JAKARTA - The West Sumatra Regional Police have started using a three-letter series on the back of the number plates of vehicles in the province, for two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

Dirlantas Polda West Sumatra, Pol Kombes Hilman Wijaya said this policy was taken because the stock of two-letter serial number plates on the back had been declared out of stock.

"So three series are behind because two series have run out. Several cities have run out," said Hilman, Wednesday, May 25.

In addition, the use of three series of letters on the back of the vehicle number plate is used to avoid double police numbers.

"Through the permission of the Korlantas Polri, this policy can already be used in West Sumatra," he said as quoted by Antara.

According to him, the three-letter series on the back of the vehicle number plate is nothing special and different. Vehicles that use it are the same as the two series behind.

"The management is the same as taking care of other vehicles. There is no excess because it has been used up (two series behind)," he said.
