JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Dudung Abdurachman appreciated the achievements of the Indonesian Army soldiers at the 31st Southeast Asian Games or SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Indonesian Army athletes donated nine gold medals, 13 silver medals and five bronze medals on behalf of Indonesia.

"KSAD General Dudung Abdurachman, as the leader of the Indonesian Army, feels proud and gives the highest appreciation to the athletes who came from the TNI AD soldiers, who have fought bravely and risked the dignity of the nation, so that they get achievements that make the TNI proud. The Army is especially the honor of the nation and state," said Head of the Information Service of the Indonesian Army (Kadispenad) Brigadier General Tatang Subarna in a written statement in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Tuesday, May 24.

At the prestigious Southeast Asian level event which is held biennially, there are 27 Indonesian Army soldiers who strengthen the Indonesian contingent. They consist of 23 athletes and four officials.

The 23 Indonesian Army athletes were deployed to compete in shooting, rowing, athletics, karate, judo, and swimming sports. Of the 23 athletes, 18 of them managed to donate medals for the Indonesian contingent.

"This proud achievement can be an example and motivation for other TNI AD soldiers. Not only in sports, but also achievements in other fields that can make the TNI AD proud, the nation and the country," said Tatang.

The achievements of the TNI AD athletes are also proof that soldiers are able to properly implement the Seven Kasad Daily Commandments, one of which states "The identity of the TNI AD is the People's Army, the Warrior Army, the National Army, and the Professional Army".

As is known, the 2021 SEA Games which will take place in Hanoi, Vietnam, will be officially closed on Monday, May 23.

In this sporting event, the Indonesian contingent was in third place out of eleven countries in Southeast Asia, with 69 gold, 91 silver and 80 bronze medals.
