Green Turban, TNI Commander Meets PBNU Chairman: Together We Strengthen The State

JAKARTA - TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa met with the General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, at the PBNU office, Central Jakarta.

The TNI commander arrived at the PBNU office at around 09.00 WIB. The meeting lasted about 1 hour.

After the meeting, General Andika admitted that he had come to PBNU for friendship.

"I came to PBNU this morning on purpose because since I was in office at that time I had an internal orientation. But when I entered this month I was able to understand the details internally so I was oriented to leave. In the meeting, Andika and Gus Yahya discussed the State Defense Program launched by the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan).

"What we can do together is to make our country stronger. And later there will be 'follow-up' and cooperation after I collect internally and see this year's work program and budget," said Andika.

Meanwhile, Gus Yahya said that he and General Andika Perkasa had intense discussions about building a national defense movement.

"We had intense discussions to build a national defense movement. We will develop it between NU and the TNI. It was a warm conversation and I feel this is a heart-to-heart conversation," he said.

During the conversation, he had thought that Andika was an NU person.

"I even thought that Pak Andika is also NU. Rich people have a match. I am very grateful and hopefully can produce something that is beneficial for the nation and state," he said jokingly.

Gus Yahya hopes that after this meeting there will be a strong synergy between the two parties to maintain the unity of the nation and maintain the conduciveness of the community.
