146 Prospective Hajj Pilgrims In OKU Regency, South Sumatra Ready To Leave For The Holy Land

BATURAJA - The Office of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) of Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra, has confirmed that as many as 146 prospective pilgrims (CJH) from the area are ready to leave for the Holy Land of Mecca, Saudi Arabia during the 2022 hajj season.

Head of Hajj and Umrah at the Ministry of Religion Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU), Abdul Muis in Baturaja, Thursday, May 19, said that so far the preparations for the departure of hundreds of CJHs have almost certainly reached 100 percent.

"Previously the number of CJH from OKU Regency reached 297 people. However, because there was a quota reduction from the central government by 45.7 percent for all regions, it was reduced to 146 people," he said.

According to him, all CJH Yang who will depart this year has paid off the cost of the pilgrimage as a condition for performing the pilgrimage to the Holy Land, including those who meet the requirements to go for Hajj this year have also received a complete COVID-19 vaccine.

"Right now, it's just a process of reporting or re-registration. The rituals of Hajj have been carried out," he said.

However, he has not been able to confirm the exact schedule for the departure of the CJH from OKU Regency to Palembang Hajj Dormitory before flying to Mecca.

"The latest information is that the first batch for the South Sumatra region will start departing in early June 2022. Later, if there is further information, we will inform all congregations," said Abdul Muis.
