Bareskrim Detains Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte And Tommy Sumardi

JAKARTA - Bareskrim Polri has arrested Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte and Tommy Sumardi as suspects in the alleged bribery case for the removal of red notice for Joko Tjandra.

Police Public Relations Division Karo Penmas, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono, said the two were detained because the case would go to stage two or the transfer of suspects and evidence.

"The suspect NB was immediately subjected to a swab test and then forced efforts were carried out in the form of detention," Awi told reporters, Wednesday, October 14.

According to Awi, the detention of Tommy Sumardi was initiated by sending a summons. After arriving at around 12.00 WIB Tommy was immediately arrested.

"(Tommy) came directly to do a swab, and then he was detained," said Awi.

The detention of the two suspects, continued Awi, was the National Police's commitment to handling the case. This was also to answer public doubts because previously the two suspects had not been detained.

"That is what colleagues need to know regarding the commitment of the police in the case of revoking red notices," he said.

In the alleged removal of red notice bribery, investigators have named four people as suspects. They act as recipients and givers.

Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte and Brigadier General Prasetyo Utomo were named as suspects because they were suspected of being the recipients of bribes for the removal of red notice.

Both of them are charged with Article 5 Paragraph 2, Article 11 and Article 12 letters a and b of Law Number 20 of 2020 on Corruption (Tipikor) in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, Tommy Sumardi and Djoko Tjandra were named as suspects on suspicion of grafting bribes. Both of them were charged under Article 5 Paragraph 1, Article 13 of Law 20/2020 concerning Corruption (Tipikor) in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code.

In the bribery case, investigators confiscated US $ 20 thousand, cellphones, including CCTV as evidence.
