Mahfud MD Asks TGPF Intan Jaya To Report The Investigation Results This Week

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD asked the Intan Jaya Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) to immediately report their full findings this week, to be precise Saturday, October 17.

"Given until the 17th to make a report and discuss all the facts found so as to come to conclusive conclusions," Mahfud said at a press conference held in his office, Tuesday, October 13.

TGPF, which was formed as an effort to investigate the conflict in Intan Jaya, returned from Papua to Jakarta on Monday, October 12 yesterday after carrying out a direct investigation.

Although he had experienced an ambush and a shooting which resulted in the injury of a TGPF member during the investigation process, Mahfud felt that his team had done well. Because, apart from being able to break through the blockade of armed criminal groups (KKB) in the area, this team also succeeded in making the victims' families, namely the family of Pastor Jeremiah, openly testify.

"The victim's family can be met and give testimony, explain the facts, even sign an agreement to carry out an autopsy on the body," he said.

The team, which operates with the help of local community and religious leaders, said Mahfud, has also met a number of key witnesses in the shooting incident in Intan Jaya and managed to obtain primary data.

Furthermore, Mahfud also emphasized that the fact-finding team he formed was an objective team. Thus, the suspicion that this team was ordered by the government was completely untrue.

"Here it is from government agencies because of their duties. But, they all have integrity," said the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK).

"Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, just wait until the 17th," he concluded.
