Ridwan Kamil: The Effect Of Homecoming On COVID-19 Will Be Visible In 14 Days

BANDUNG - West Java Governor, Ridwan Kamil, said the impact of the 2022 Eid homecoming on the number of COVID-19 cases would be seen in the next 14 days, although he hoped that there would be no significant increase in cases due to overcrowding during Eid homecoming.

"I can't answer now whether there is an increase in the impact of the permitting of going home because the pattern is not like that. According to theory, the excitement today was then the case data was seen 14 days later", Ridwan Kamil said when met at the Limbangan Garut Homecoming Integrated Post, reported by Antara, Friday, May 6th.

Ridwan Kamil said his party would remain vigilant for the next month anticipating an increase in COVID-19 cases.

So far, from his observations, public adherence to health protocols, especially wearing masks, is still high, including enthusiasm for vaccinations during Eid homecoming.

"We will still be on standby for the next month. I see that people's obedience is still high", said Kang Emil.

As of today, data shows that the hospital occupancy rate for COVID-19 patients in West Java is very low, at 0.8 percent.

According to Kang Emil, if after the Eid holiday the number of COVID-19 cases is still sloping or there is an increase but it is not significant, then the transition from pandemic to endemic will be clearer.

"If after 14 days from Eid the case remains sloping, then I can claim it means it is endemic", said Kang Emil.

Currently, there is an extraordinary density of backflows, but the COVID-19 cases have not increased or have not increased significantly because there are no new variants plus a low Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) when going home", he said.
