Agree With Prosecutors, Bandung District Court Rejects Memorandum Of Objection To Bahar Smith Regarding Hoax Cases

JAKARTA - The Panel of Judges of the Bandung District Court (PN) rejected the memorandum of objection submitted by the defendant Bahar Smith in the case of spreading hoaxes that ensnared the preacher.

The Chief Justice of the Bandung District Court, Dodong Iman Rusdani, said that his party accepted the Public Prosecutor's request to reject Bahar Smith's exception because it was deemed unfounded.

"Declaring that he completely rejects the exception of the defendant's attorney," said Dodong at the Bandung District Court, West Java, Tuesday, April 26, quoted from Antara.

The panel of judges also stated that the Bahar Smith case deserved to be tried at the Bandung District Court even though the case was in Bandung Regency. Thus, the trial process of the case will continue at the Bandung District Court, added Dodong.

Then, the panel of judges also ordered the prosecutor to continue the trial with a number of examinations until the end of the trial.

"Deferring the cost of the case until the final decision," he continued.

Previously, Tuesday (12/4), Bahar Smith through his attorney filed an exception to acquit him of all charges in the hoax case.

In response to this, the Public Prosecutor asked the panel of judges to process the exception. Prosecutors are of the opinion that Bahar's exception is unwarranted.
