JAKARTA - The General Chair of the Indonesian Teachers' Association (PGRI) Unifah Rosyidi requested that the discussion of the National Education System Bill (RUU) not be forced.

"This National Education System Bill feels so forced. We were invited for a public review of the National Education System Bill, but we were only given five minutes to respond," said Unifah at an iftar with PGRI administrators in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, April 22.

According to him, the transformation of learning is constrained by teacher management. "We really hope with all due respect that this Omnibus Law must be carried out carefully. Do not let it be like the Job Creation Law, which has problems in its manufacture," he said.

Unifah requested that procedural and substance issues be resolved first. For example, the issue of teacher management needs attention from the government. Each teacher governance is fragmented and managed by different institutions.

The New Teacher Procurement System is regulated in the Higher Education Law 12/2002, then the recruitment of new teachers is regulated in the ASN Law 5/2017, religious and religious education and Islamic boarding schools are regulated in Law 18/2019, and many other separate regulations.

"We hope that the discussion of the National Education System Bill will not be carried out in a hurry, because we also want to contribute to the world of education," he said.
