When Ganjar Visits Protesters Of The Job Creation Law At The Semarang Police Headquarters

JAKARTA - The Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, came to the demonstrators of the Job Creation Act who were secured at the Semarang Police Headquarters for allegedly committing anarchist acts during a demonstration.

The number one person in Central Java arrived at the Semarang Police Headquarters wearing a jacket, hat and mask, Wednesday, October 7 evening.

In front of Ganjar, the demonstrators, who were recorded as still students and several workers, admitted that they only joined in the demonstration against the Job Creation Law in front of the Central Java DPRD building on Wednesday afternoon.

They also admitted that they did not know the content of the charges or the matters at issue in the Job Creation Law.

"Waking up to sleep, in a quiet house, I saw the 'cellphone' status during the busy demonstrations. I don't know what the demonstration was, I didn't know what was in it," said the students when asked by Ganjar.

Ganjar also approached the workers' group and chatted for a long time.

The workers who were arrested admitted to taking part in the demonstration for fear of not being given severance pay when they were laid off and claiming they had not read the full text of the Job Creation Bill and only glimpsed the information circulating in the WhatsApp application group.

When met before leaving the Semarang Police Headquarters, Ganjar said that the demonstration accompanied by anarchistic actions could have been avoided if both parties wanted to promote communication.

The PDI-P politician admitted that he was concerned about high school / vocational school students who were involved in the demonstration against the Job Creation Law, even though they did not know the substance being voiced.

"It is better for our children to be educated properly because SMA / SMK is my responsibility, the responsibility of the province so that if the children are actually we can provide facilities," he said.

Ganjar explained that from the start he also encouraged the central government and the DPR to conduct socialization and dissemination to educate the public about the contents of the Job Creation Law.

According to him, if this had been done from the start, anarchistic actions during demonstrations such as in Semarang could be avoided

"So I say from the start, if later there are residents who do not agree to try communication. If it still doesn't work, then just 'judicial review', everything will be orderly. Poor high school, "he said.

As reported, the police apparatus from the Central Java Regional Police and the Semarang Police broke up a demonstration against the Job Creation Law which was rioting in front of the Central Java DPRD office.

Police dispersed the crowd of workers and students by firing tear gas and spraying water through a water cannon.

The police who secured the demonstration had survived and tried not to be provoked by the provocation of the demonstrators who threw stones, bottles of mineral water and firecrackers.

Apart from provocative action, thousands of demonstrators also destroyed the facilities in the courtyard of the DPRD building, which is still the same complex as the Central Java Governor's office.
