Rafflesia Flower Blooms Perfectly In The Home Page Of Agam West Sumatra Residents

AGAM - The corpse flower or Rafflesia arnoldii flower (Rafflesia arnoldii) is in full bloom in the yard of a resident's house in Batang Palupuh, Nagari Koto Rantang, Palupuh District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra.

The owner of the Rafflesia flower, Joni Hartono, said that the Rafflesia flower was in perfect bloom on the second day.

"This flower bloomed right in front of my parents' house and is currently in full bloom on the second day," he said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, April 13.

He said at that location there were still 20 knobs or bulbs of various sizes around the blooming flower.

It is estimated that in the next few weeks, this rare flower and protected by Law Number 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and its Ecosystems will be in full bloom.

"Probably in the next few weeks, one knob will bloom perfectly," he said.

The host of the Raflesia arnoldi flower was first planted in his parents' yard in 2000.

In 2009, he added, the flower was in full bloom for the first time and now the Rafflesia flower has fully bloomed 15 times.

"Cultivating rafflesia flowers is not too difficult, and it only takes a long time to wait for it to fully bloom," he said.

This location is often visited by foreign tourists when the Rafflesia flower is in perfect bloom.

Batang Palupuh is about 102 kilometers from the city of Padang or the capital of the province of West Sumatra and about 12 kilometers from the city of Bukittinggi.
