Puan Maharani Directly Leads The Plenary Meeting To Confirm The TPKS Bill

JAKARTA - Indonesian House of Representatives Chairwoman, Puan Maharani, will directly chair the plenary meeting of decision-making on the Draft Law on Sexual Violence (RUU TPKS) today, Tuesday, April 12.

Puan said that this plenary session will be a historic moment for one of the people's struggles.

"Today the TPKS Bill will be ratified and become evidence of the struggle for victims of sexual violence", said Puan in her statement, Tuesday, April 12.

It is known that the TPKS Bill itself has been championed since 2016 and the discussion has experienced dynamics, including various rejections. However, according to Puan, the hard work of all elements of the nation proves that good intentions will get good results.

In addition to the TPKS Bill, today's House of Representatives plenary meeting will also discuss the bill for the expansion of 3 provinces in Papua which will be ratified into the House of Representatives Initiative Bill. Then, the council will also decide on the extension of the discussion time of several bills, one of which is the Bill on Personal Data Protection (PDP).

“Because time is still needed for review, the discussion of the PDP Bill will be extended. However, the House of Representatives and the Government are committed to immediately completing the PDP Bill", continued the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

The plenary meeting will also listen to the House of Representatives of Household Affairs Agency (BURT) Report regarding the Discussion on the Indonesian House of Representatives 2023 Work and Budget Plan (RKA) followed by decision making.

The House of Representatives will also ratify the results of the Fit and Proper Test for Candidates for Members of the Central Information Commission (KIP) for the period 2021-2025 and Candidates for Members of the Board of Commissioners for the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for the Period 2022-2027.

“Congratulations to the members of the KIP for the period of 2021-2025 who have been elected and the members of the OJK Board of Commissioners. I hope I can do my job well", said Puan.

The plenary meeting will be preceded by the inauguration of one Interim Substitute (PAW) member of the House of Representatives and the remaining People's Consultative Assembly members for the 2019-2024 term. The PAW member who will be inaugurated is Siti Nurizka Puteri Jaya from the Gerindra Party Faction for the Electoral District of South Sumatra I replacing Renny Astuti.
