CENTRAL SULAWESI - Governor of Central Sulawesi, Rusdy Mastura, promised to prepare eight farms to be managed by ex-terrorist convicts who have been released or have completed their sentences.

This was conveyed by Rusdy after the two convicts pledged allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) at the Palu Penitentiary (Lapas), Monday, April 11.

"God willing, we are ready to help, so we are looking for land, well about two hectares for them to manage", Rusdy said in Palu as reported by Antara.

According to Rusdy, the government will immediately coordinate with the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) and several related parties in providing land and empowering ex-convicts in Central Sulawesi.

"Ready, we will discuss with BNPT to find land that they can manage", he also said.

According to Rusdy, these ex-convicts can help the government in reducing poverty through the assistance that has been provided later.

"If you are religious, let's fight poverty together. From the assistance provided, if it has developed, it can empower other people", he said again.

Rusdy admitted that several other former convicts in Poso Regency had also developed businesses provided by the regional government as well as the TNI (Army) and National Police.

"Given assistance and they develop it after the business progresses, yes they are the work of the local community", said Rusdy. He added that the government and the TNI/Police hope that the community will accept former convicts. The former convicts will still receive assistance from the BNPT.

"Accept them and help them, because after finishing their sentence, they will continue to live and support their families", he said again.

Previously, two terrorism convicts in Palu Prison pledged allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia. The two are Muhammad Firman and Abu Ahmad alias Genda.

The two convicts hope that the government and related parties will pay attention to the lives of ex-convicts.

Starting from preparing jobs, ensuring there is acceptance from the community to ensuring the safety of groups who are still exposed to radical ideas.
