30 Residents Of Jambi Batanghari River Abrasion Victims Receive House Assistance, Facilities Are Complete Enough

BATANGHARI - As many as 30 residents of Batanghari Regency, Jambi Province, victims of the abrasion of the Batanghari River received housing assistance from the regional government.

"Housing assistance for victims of the Batanghari River abrasion will be carried out in stages, for the initial stage as many as 30 units," said Acting Head of the Batanghari Regency Housing and Settlement Area Agency Abdul Somad in Batanghari as reported by Antara, Monday, April 4.

In total there are 120 families who are victims of the abrasion of the Batanghari River. As many as 30 people who received the assistance were urgent and had to be relocated immediately because their houses were very vulnerable.

The resident who became the victim was a resident of Muara Bulian Village, Muara Bulian District whose house was on the banks of the Batanghari River.

If it rains, the residents' houses are prone to landslides, and even a number of houses have been swept away by the current of the Batanghari River.

"There are 10 heads of families who have been affected by abrasion, and four houses are no longer suitable for habitation, therefore the handover of housing assistance is immediately carried out," said Abdul Somad.

The housing is an aid from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing. The housing for the victims of the Batanghari River abrasion was built in Rengas Condong Village, Muara Bulian District.

Somad stated that in 2022, the construction of houses for the abrasion victims would be carried out again. And the house help is provided free of charge.

The housing assistance facilities are quite complete. Each is equipped with clean water and electricity. However, for now, the electricity connection is still constrained because the electricity network has not been installed.

"In one month, electricity will be connected immediately, so that residents who want to move will no longer be constrained," he said.

The distribution of housing assistance is carried out using a lottery system, so as not to cause social jealousy with one another.
