Pickpocket From Tanah Abang Go Viral On Social Media, Got Caught But Managed To Escape

JAKARTA – The video of the pickpocketing action in the Tanah Abang area is hilarious. The perpetrator was caught by the victim while trying to take things in public transportation, Wednesday, March 23.

"This is the pickpocket's backpack. When we caught him, he wanted to take my cellphone on public transportation. He got the bag, he ran away when he was choked by Afdal," the victim said in the video recording.

"Uh, you know, there's nothing in it, just a box and a sarong. And we're already at the Police Station. The funny thing is that the pickpocket was in front of the Police station, isn't it funny," said the victim.

The victim has gone to the Tanah Abang Metro Police Station to report what happened to him.

Tanah Abang Police Chief, Commissioner of Police Haris Kurniawan when confirmed the incident.

"Yes, that's right, the incident took place on Penjernihan Street, Bendungan Hilir, not far from the Tanah Abang Police," said Commissioner Haris Kurniawan when confirmed, Wednesday, March 23.

The police chief also ordered the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanah Abang Metro Police,  Fiernando Adriansyah, to check and process the crime scene (TKP).

"The crime scene investigation was led by the Criminal Investigation Unit, Commissioner Adjutant of Police Fiernando, to look for evidence and CCTV footage around the location. We are still investigating," said the Sector Police Chief.
