PALEMBANG - The South Sumatra Police have set up two "hotlines" for complaints if the public finds out that there are indications of irregularities and the distribution of cooking oil.

"If there are indications of irregularities and games in the distribution of cooking oil that can lead to scarcity and increase in selling prices beyond reasonable limits, the public can submit a complaint at the hotline number 0711-3036110 or 0711-3036000," said Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Police, Kombes Supriadi in Palembang, as quoted by Antara. , Wednesday, March 23.

According to him, the problem of the community's difficulty in obtaining one of the basic needs in the last few months has become a concern for his party to help overcome it in accordance with the duties and functions of the police.

This problem can occur due to hoarding and irregularities in the distribution to the market of one of the people's basic needs.

"To prevent the cause of the problem from occurring, his party expects public participation to report to the nearest police officer or to the "hotline" telephone line," continued Kombes Supriadi.

Previously, the South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Toni Harmanto issued a notice to ensure the availability of cooking oil in the market in the local province according to the needs of the community.

The announcement from the South Sumatra Police Chief was issued in accordance with the direction of the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, who instructed the availability of cooking oil in each regional police area.

With this announcement, it is hoped that cooking oil producers and distributors will ensure that the supply to the market of one of the people's basic needs is in line with demand.

The availability of cooking oil in the market in an amount according to the people's demand can overcome the problem of the scarcity of the basic needs of the community and the price spike that is beyond normal limits.

He explained, for the public and business actors who hoard cooking oil, actions can be taken in accordance with the law where the perpetrators can be threatened with a maximum of five years' imprisonment or a fine of IDR 50 billion.

"This announcement must be understood and obeyed by all parties as appropriate for the realization of a security and order situation in the jurisdiction of the South Sumatra Police covering 17 regencies/cities," said the Kapolda.
