Import Value Increases 16.54 Percent Capai 21.94 Billion US Dollars In October 2024

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that the import value in October 2024 reached 21.94 billion US dollars, an increase of 16.54 percent month to month (mtm) compared to the previous month.

Plt. Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that the performance of the import value was driven by non-oil and gas imports (oil and gas) which reached 18.27 billion US dollars, an increase of 12.13 percent (mtm) or an increase of 18.14 percent compared to October 2023.

Meanwhile, the value of oil and gas imports reached 3.67 billion US dollars, an increase of 44.98 percent (mtm) or an increase of 14.32 percent compared to October 2023.

"This monthly increase in imports was driven by an increase in non-oil and gas imports which contributed 10.05 percent, and an increase in the value of oil and gas imports with a contribution of 6.04 percent," Amalia said at a press conference, Friday, November 15.

Amalia said that of the ten main non-oil and gas classes of non-oil and gas items in October 2024, only the mechanical machinery/equipment group and its parts experienced a decline of 62.1 million US dollars or 2.09 percent compared to September 2024.

Meanwhile, the electric engine/completion group and its parts experienced the largest increase of US$590.1 million or 29.20 percent.

Furthermore, Amalia said that if viewed on an annual basis, Indonesia's import value rose 17.49 percent year on year (yoy) or when compared to the same period in the previous year which reached 18.67 billion US dollars.

Amalia conveyed that the annual increase in import value for both oil and gas commodities was due to an increase in volume and an increase in aggregate prices.

Meanwhile, all import values according to the category of use of goods from January to October 2024 increased to the same period the previous year.

Where the raw/auxiliary class increased to the highest amount of 7,210.2 million US dollars or 5.40 percent, followed by capital goods 1,514.2 million US dollars or 4.69 percent and consumer goods 888.9 million US dollars or 5.08 percent.
