JAKARTA - The Bengkulu District Prosecutor's Office has managed to save assets belonging to the City Government of Rp. 865 million. Consists of seven units of four-wheeled vehicles controlled by third parties or former local officials.

The head of the Bengkulu District Attorney's Office, Yunita Arifin, said the Bengkulu State Attorney's Team (JPN) had recovered the Bengkulu City Government's assets through non-litigation legal steps in the form of seven four-wheeled vehicles.

The recovery was carried out based on a letter of application from the Bengkulu City Government Number 100/08/B.I on January 10 requested assistance from the Bengkulu District Attorney to resolve problems with assets belonging to the City Government which were controlled by third parties.

"Following up on the request, a Special Power of Attorney was given from the Regional Secretary to the Bengkulu District Attorney's Head and Kajari appointed a team of State Attorneys through a Substitution Power of Attorney", Yunita said, Tuesday, March 22, as reported by Antara.

Based on the power of attorney, the State Attorney team summoned the third party to negotiate to be willing to return the assets that had been illegally controlled.

He added, in addition to assets such as four-wheeled vehicles that were successfully recovered, there are still several other assets in the form of two-wheeled vehicles which are still illegally controlled by third parties.

Therefore, he appealed to those who still control the official vehicle to immediately return it to the Bengkulu City Government through the Bengkulu District Attorney.

Because unlawful control of state-owned assets is a form of law violation that has the potential to cause state financial losses.

On the other hand, the Deputy Mayor of Bengkulu, Dedy Wahyudi, thanked and appreciated the Bengkulu District Attorney for helping to solve the problem.

"We feel very helpful, this is a form of synergy and collaboration. In the future, we hope that there will be many other collaborations. The success of this asset will also affect Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia assessment", he said.

To note, the seven units of official vehicles are controlled by former officials in the Bengkulu City Government for borrowing and have changed duties or retired.
