Members Of DKI DPRD Ask City Government To Innovate In Overcoming Poverty

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta DPRD member Ahmad Ruslan asked the administrative city and district governments in DKI Jakarta to increase the empowerment of the people's economy as an innovative breakthrough to stimulate the citizens' economy to overcome poverty.

The member of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD said that one way that can be taken is to create a bazaar for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) so that they can stimulate the local economy.

"I hope that the mayor, sub-district and village heads will prioritize areas that are less developed, lack development facilities. So that they can support their economy," said Ruslan, quoted by Antara, Saturday, March 19.

North Jakarta Mayor Ali Maulana acknowledged that his area had the highest poverty index during the COVID-19 pandemic, reaching 7.24 percent in 2021.

"Our efforts include community empowerment, village and sub-district community development programs with a budget of Rp. 64 billion," he said.

With this budget, Ali said, he would develop the skills of MSME actors included in the JakPreneur platform.

"Hopefully, by starting to slow down this pandemic, all activities can start. So that the poverty rate in North Jakarta can go down again," he said.

Based on poverty line data, the number and percentage of poor people in the regions according to districts/cities in DKI Jakarta Province uploaded by the DKI Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) states, the poor in Jakarta tends to increase.

Based on these data, the Thousand Islands Regency has the highest percentage of poor people who have increased in the last three years.

In 2019, it was 12.09 percent (2.93 thousand people), then it increased to 14.87 percent (3.63 thousand people) in 2020 and to 15.06 percent (3.86 thousand people) in 2021.

The next highest poverty rate is North Jakarta at 5.04 percent (91.15,000 people) in 2019. Then it increased to 6.78 percent (123.59 thousand people) in 2020 and to 7.24 percent (132.73 thousand people). ) in 2021.

Then followed by Central Jakarta which recorded 3.68 percent of the poor in 2019 (34.13,000 people). Then it will increase in 2020 to 4.51 percent (41.92 thousand people) and to 4.94 percent (45.10 thousand people) in 2021.

West Jakarta in 2019 had a percentage of poor people of 3.25 percent (84.06 thousand people). Then it will increase in 2020 to 4.25 percent (110.90 thousand people) and to 4.31 percent (113.37 thousand people) in 2021.

In East Jakarta, the percentage of poor people in 2019 was 3.12 percent (91.51 thousand people). Then it will increase in 2020 to 4.16 percent (122.73 thousand people) and to 4.28 percent (125.37 thousand people) in 2021.

In South Jakarta the percentage of poor people in 2019 was 2.73 percent (61.77 thousand people). Then it will increase in 2020 to 3.43 percent (78.09 thousand people) and to 3.56 percent (81.50 thousand people) in 2021.
