BANGKA - Residents in the Bangka Belitung Islands received a windfall after undergoing a COVID vaccination held by the West Bangka Police, Bangka Belitung Islands. Residents will receive parcels of cooking oil and several other basic needs.

"Not only cooking oil, but we also gave other gifts in the form of rice, sugar, coffee, and instant noodles to residents who took part in the vaccination", said West Bangka Police Chief, AKBP Agus Siswanto, in Mentok, Antara, Thursday, March 17.

According to him, this caring action was carried out as a form of Police support for efforts to accelerate the coverage of COVID-19 vaccination as announced by the central government.

"West Bangka Police support this effort, and for today we are holding it at the Water Police Unit Headquarters located in Limbung, Tanjung Village, Mentok", he said.

In addition to providing free vaccination services, both for residents who have just received the first, second, and booster doses of vaccine, residents who are injected with the vaccine are also given packages of basic food items.

According to him, gift-giving is a form of concern for the West Bangka Police to help residents in the midst of the difficulty of getting cooking oil on the market.

"Today, residents are quite enthusiastic, the number cannot be known yet because the activity is still ongoing", he said.

He reviewed the implementation of the activities accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Police, the head of the operational division, and several officers in the local police environment while establishing a friendship with the residents at the location of the activity.

Based on the latest data from the Health Office, the number of targets for COVID-19 vaccination in West Bangka was 157,934 people, 131,716 people or 83.4 percent had received the first dose of vaccine, 103,177 people or 65.33 percent received dose two and 5,948 people or 3. 77 percent received booster vaccines.

The government has also carried out vaccinations for the age group of six to 11 years with a target of 21,726 children, recipients of the first dose of 20,659 children or 95.09 percent, recipients of the second dose of 17,016 children or 78.32 percent.
