KPK Member Syamsuddin Haris Is Positive For COVID-19

JAKARTA - Member of the Supervisory Board (Dewas) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Syamsuddin Haris tested positive for COVID-19. Since last night, Syamsuddin has been undergoing treatment at Pertamina Hospital.

"Since last night I was treated at Pertamina Hospital because the results of the swab tested positive for COVID-19," Syamsuddin told reporters, Saturday, September 19.

Syamsuddin was confirmed positive based on the swab test conducted on Tuesday, September 15. Apart from Syamsuddin, KPK member Albertina Ho and Head of Dewas Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean also conducted a swab test.

Albertina Ho tested negative for COVID-19. However, Syamsuddin admitted that he did not know the results of the Tumpak test. "I don't know whether Pak Tumpak is positive or not," he said.

Dewas KPK underwent a swab test because he had a chance to interact with a KPK employee who tested positive for COVID-19.

This condition then led to the reading of the trial decision on the alleged violation of the code of ethics against KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri and KPK Employee Center Chair Yudi Purnomo Harahap, having to resign for a week from the previous schedule, Tuesday, September 15.

"The postponement of the trial agenda was carried out because of the need for fast action to handle and control COVID-19 within the KPK, especially the KPK Supervisory Board," said Acting Spokesperson for prevention Ipi Maryati some time ago.

"From the results of the internal tracing, there are indications of interaction between employees who are positive for COVID-19 and members of the KPK's Dewas so that on Tuesday there will be swab tests for a number of related parties," continued Ipi.

A number of KPK employees previously tested positive for COVID-19. In fact, an investigator on behalf of Kompol Pandu Hendra Sasmita also died recently. He had tested positive for COVID-19 and was in a critical condition.
