After Sweden, It's The Turn Of Japan Whose Territory Has Been Violated By Russian Helicopters

JAKARTA - Japan's Ministry of Defense confirmed that a helicopter believed to belong to Russia had violated Japanese airspace over the northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido.

The ministry said a helicopter entered Japanese airspace off the Nemuro Peninsula in eastern Hokkaido at around 10:23 am local time, Wednesday, March 2 quoted from NHK.

Japanese Air Force fighter jets immediately flew after the helicopter and sent a radio warning. A moment later, the helicopter was reported to have left.

Local authorities said the helicopter was in Japanese airspace for less than a minute.

The Ministry of Defense immediately protested against the Russian government through diplomatic channels.

They are also analyzing it to determine where the helicopter came from. Including looking at whether the territorial violations are related to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
