Bengkulu BKSDA Observing The Location Of Prey Crocodiles In Mukomuko Residents, It Is Estimated That There Are 14 Crocodiles Roaming

MUKOMUKO - Bengkulu Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) will deploy a team to conduct observations at the location of the crocodile attack on residents of Tanah Rekah Village, Mukomuko Regency.

"The team from the BKSDA will go down to make observations and identify the location where the crocodile attack occurred," said the Acting Regional Secretary of Mukomuko Regency, Yandaryat, in a statement quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 3.

He said this was based on the results of coordination with the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) to find a solution to deal with crocodiles that prey on local residents who still roam the Selagan River in this area.

The local government coordinated with the BKSDA to follow up on the request of the people of five villages on the banks of the Selagan River against the disturbance of wild crocodiles that preyed on Sabri (65), a resident of Tanah Rekah Village.

BKSDA sent a team apart from observing and identifying as well as monitoring, and from the survey, steps were taken to convince the community that they could carry out activities as usual.

Based on information from local residents, there are about 14 large crocodiles, and not including the calves and arms of adults.

The rivers in this area are said to be the habitat of crocodiles, and it is possible that all this time they had a zone of power and by chance the people were carrying out activities in their territory so that the crocodiles were disturbed and became active.

In addition, according to Yandaryat, according to the BKSDA, crocodiles in estuaries and saltwater are more vicious than crocodiles in fresh water.

"If they carry out activities to lift palms in a safe way, that is, don't fill the boat too much so that the crocodiles don't eat them when they are close to the crocodiles," he said.

"Besides, do not carry out diving activities, including fishing and river bathing until the team from BKSDA comes down," he added.
