Transportation Subsidy In Jakarta Reaches IDR 6 Trillion But DPRD Says It's Not Right On Target

JAKARTA - Head of Commission B of the DKI DPRD Ismail asked the DKI Provincial Government to evaluate the target recipients of transportation subsidies in Jakarta this year. As is known, the APBD disbursed for public service obligations (PSO) is quite large, reaching IDR 6 trillion per year.

“You have to be extra careful because this PSO or subsidy is quite large. Now how can we provide the best service to citizens who use transportation," said Ismail in a meeting at the DKI DPRD building, Wednesday, March 2.

Judging from the data on the recipients of transportation subsidies, Ismail views that so far the target recipients are not quite right because they are still given to state civil servants (ASN) and private employees who have adequate income.

Meanwhile, there are still many people who need this form of reduction in the cost of public transportation. For example, school students who are not in the criteria for the owner of the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP).

"Indeed, there must be a special study to strengthen the database of DKI residents, especially users of this mass transportation," he said.

Responding to this, DKI Jakarta Economic Assistant Sri Haryati stated that she would conduct further studies for the selection of subsidy recipients. However, Sri views that the subsidy that has been implemented so far has been right on target.

This is because the DKI Provincial Government uses one component of the criteria for recipients of subsidies in the employee group, namely the provincial minimum wage (UMP, according to the recommendation of the Manpower Office.

“All community groups that we will help are recommendations from the relevant agencies. Where is the stage when they (Dinas) enter the name of the employee, submit it to Bank DKI and then it can be used," said Sri.

"So, in terms of selection, we think it's good enough. But in the future we want to be even better, so that those who get really need it," he continued.
