COVID-19 Update As Of February 22: New Cases 57,491, Deaths Increase By 257

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 537,081 specimens were examined with the result that there were 57,491 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulated positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 5,289,414 people and active cases have fallen by 18,760 to 537,081 cases", said Ministry of Health data, Tuesday, February 22.

Cases recovered on the day increased by 38,474 people, bringing the total to 4,593,185 people recovered. Then, positive confirmed cases who died increased by 257 cases and a total of 146,789 people.

The province with the newest cases was in West Java with 13,658 cases and a total of 945,685 cases. Followed by East Java with 7,569 new cases for a total of 502,047 cases. DKI Jakarta with 5,208 new cases and a total of 1,140,233 cases. Central Java with 4,219 new cases with a total of 547,098 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 9,500 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an additional 5,976 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 5,756 recovered cases, and Banten with an additional 5,616 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens has reached 81,933,316.

"Positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week was 17.42 percent", it wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases was recorded at 45,398 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

To date, 189,885,858 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 141,042,401 people have received the second dose of vaccination.

While the third dose of vaccination was 8,712,274. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
