The Head Of The IKN Authority Can Be A Minister, PPP Immediately Mentions These Names

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has officially signed Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the State Capital (UU IKN). Various speculations regarding the name of the candidate for the Head of the National Capital Authority (IKN) of the Nusantara have resurfaced.

Deputy Chairman of the Legislation Agency (Baleg) of the DPR from the PPP faction, Achmad Baidowi, said that the ministerial candidate for the head of the authority could be appointed. He also revealed the names of the figures that President Jokowi might appoint.

Baidowi explained, according to the provisions of Article 9 paragraph 1 that the Head and Deputy Head of the IKN Authority are appointed and dismissed by the president. In Article 4 paragraph 1 (b) that the status of the IKN authority body is a special regional government at the ministry level, so that the position of the Head of the Authority can be held concurrently by the minister.

"The position of the head of the IKN authority can be held concurrently by the minister," said Baidowi, Monday, February 21.

According to the man who is familiarly called Awiek, if you look at the provisions in the IKN Law, the opportunity to capture this position is very open.

The chairman of the PPP DPP also gave a leak regarding several ministers who have the opportunity to be chosen by the President to serve as the head of the authority. Who is the minister in question?

"Everything depends on the President's decision. It could be the Minister of Home Affairs (Tito Karnavian), the Minister of National Planning and Development/PPN/Bappenas (Suharso Monoarfa), and the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Mahfud MD) or an appointed minister, "said Awiek.

In addition, Awiek assessed that the deputy head of the authority must be from outside the ministry. So, he said, it was left to President Jokowi whether to appoint one of his ministers to concurrent positions, or to choose outside the ministry.

"It depends on the president's choice whether to appoint the head of the IKN authority or appoint one of the ministers to concurrently be the head of the IKN authority," he said.

However, the secretary of the PPP faction added, the President was only given two months after the law was promulgated to elect the head of the IKN authority.

"According to the provisions of Article 10 paragraph 3, the President has 2 months to appoint the Head of the IKN Authority for the first time," he said.

Previously, Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the DPR, Luqman Hakim, revealed that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had pocketed the name of the Head of the National Capital Authority (IKN) Nusantara.

"The name of the Head of the Nusantara IKN Authority is already in President Joko Widodo's pocket," said Luqman when confirmed, Friday, February 18.

The PKB politician also mentioned the figure that might be appointed as the head of the authority. Luqman suspects that President Jokowi will choose a senior figure who has the ability and a wealth of experience related to government management, finance, and banking.

In addition, the head of the authority who is trusted by Jokowi must also be able to communicate well with all groups. Including opposition groups as well as mastering adequate legal matters.

"Just as an additional illustration, the candidate for the head of the authority who will be announced, I suspect is one of the figures trusted by President Jokowi," said Luqman.

"So far, the president in question is often asked to provide input and considerations," he continued.

However, Luqman did not want to mention the name of the person in question. According to him, wait for President Jokowi to officially announce it. "When it is announced, I think President Jokowi is waiting for a good day," he concluded.
