BANTEN - Tofu entrepreneurs in Lebak Regency, Banten, asked the government to help subsidize soybean prices in the market so that production continues.

"We are confused that the price of soybeans has almost doubled," said Soleh, a tofu businessman in Lebak Regency, Friday. very hit, especially the price of cooking oil also rose.

"Most of the tofu entrepreneurs here produce fried tofu, so they are forced to sell at a loss instead of selling a profit," said Soleh. According to him, the increase in soybean prices is certain that the tofu entrepreneurs in Lebak Regency are in danger of going out of business. with packs of 10 units sold for Rp. 10 thousand.

Therefore, tofu craftsmen hope that the government will immediately intervene by ordering the Ministry of Trade to provide soybean subsidies.

This is because the government used to do this by providing subsidies to tofu and tempeh entrepreneurs.

He said that currently, tofu businessmen in Lebak Regency will conduct a sales strike from February 21-23 2022. The strike action is based on the Decree of the DKI Jakarta Puskopti because they can no longer stand soybeans as a raw material for tofu and tempeh, which are increasing every day. I hope the government can intervene by providing soybean subsidies," he explained.

Likewise, another tofu businessman, Aan admitted that he felt hit by the soaring price of imported soybeans, so he was forced to lay off 15 employees, because they were unable to pay the wages of their workers. it's only two people working, because production costs are quite high compared to profits," he said

Meanwhile, Ending, a tempe entrepreneur, a resident of Rangkasbitung, Lebak Regency, complained about the soaring price of imported soybeans, resulting in reduced production and an impact on income.

"We hope that soybean prices will return to stability or subsidies will help," he said.
