JAMBI - A total of 73 students of SMA Titian Teras Jambi whose PCR results were positive for COVID-19 are now isolated at Bapelkes Pijoan, Jambi Outer City (Jaluko) District, Muaro Jambi Regency.

Muaro Jambi Police Chief AKBP Yuyan Priatmaja who is also the Deputy of the Task Force for handling COVID-19 said that to date the number of positive COVID-19 patients in the district is 117 people.

In Muaro Jambi Regency, he continued, there were 117 people who were confirmed positive for COVID-19, of which the largest contributor was SMA Titian Teras with 73 students and the rest the general public.

The increase in COVID-19 cases was due to the delay in tracing at Titian Teras High School.

On 7 February, one of the Titian Teras High School students was confirmed positive for COVID-19 and then the Task Force team received information on 11 February that a Titian Teras High School student had confirmed COVID-19. On February 12, the team re-traced and the PCR results are still waiting.

The police chief said that as many as 680 Titian Teras High School students had their PCR swab samples taken, and the results for the first wave were 68 students who were confirmed positive and were immediately isolated at Bapelkes Pijoan.

"And finally, 73 students have been confirmed positive and currently all students are isolated at the Pijoan Health Center," said AKBP Yuyan Priatmaja as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 16.

To ensure the condition of Titian Teras High School is free from COVID-19 for students whose swab results are negative, their PCR test is taken again.

"This aims to let the task force know the results, whether it is clean for the superior school of Titian Teras High School and if not, we will recommend that the school be closed for the next 10 days," said Muaro Jambi Police Chief, AKBP Yuyan Priatmaja.

For the time being, activities within the school are still running as normal and for students who are positive and isolated in Bapelkes and students are in good condition.

"For the conditions of the students isolated at Bapelkes, all of them are in good health and all of the symptoms are still mild, such as flu, cough, that's all," said Yuyan Priatmaja.
