Prince Charles Infected With COVID-19 Again: Immediate Quarantine, Camilla Parker Negative

JAKARTA - Prince Charles tested positive for COVID-19 according to his office, Thursday, the second time the heir to the British throne has been infected with the coronavirus.

Originally, Prince Charles, 73, attended an event in the city of Winchester, southwest England, to mark the 70th anniversary of the reign of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Clarence House said Prince Charles was very disappointed because he could not attend an important and meaningful event for his mother.

"This morning the Prince of Wales has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now self-isolating," Clarence House announced in a post on Twitter.

There was no immediate comment on his condition or the last time he saw his mother, 95-year-old Queen Elizabeth II, before testing positive for COVID-19 again.

Meanwhile, his wife Camilla Parker Bowles continued activities in London on Thursday after she tested negative for COVID-19.

On Wednesday, the Prince attended a reception for the British Asian Trust, where photos showed him chatting with other guests, including UK Finance Minister Rishi Sunak and Home Secretary Priti Patel.

A spokesman for Minister Sunak said the minister had tested negative for COVID on Thursday.

To note, Prince Charles, who said in December that he and Camilla had received injections of their COVID-19 vaccine, previously tested positive for the virus in March 2020, when he said he was "lucky" to suffer only mild symptoms.

While the eldest son, Prince William also contracted COVID-19 shortly after his father in 2020.
