JAKARTA - Iran's elite force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a new long-range ballistic missile with pinpoint accuracy, dubbed 'Kheibarshekan' (castle destroyer).
The launch of this domestically-made missile was carried out directly by the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri and the Commander of the IRGC Air Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh while visiting the missile base of the IRGC Air Force on Wednesday.
Citing Tasnim News Agency Wednesday, February 9, Kheibarshekan missiles can hit targets within 1,450 kilometers with pinpoint accuracy. This strategic weapon is a third-generation long-range missile developed by the IRGC with great capabilities.
The new missile is propelled by solid fuel and is capable of penetrating missile shields with high maneuverability during the landing stage.
From a design point of view, the modifications made to the Kheibarshekan can reduce its weight as compared to similar missiles. Meanwhile, the preparation time for the launch was faster, reduced to one-sixth than usual.
Another distinguishing feature of this new ballistic missile compared to its predecessors is its agility and high speed in hitting targets. This advanced missile is completely designed and manufactured by local experts from the IRGC Aerospace Force.
