Syahrul Yasin Limpo's Daughter Becomes Independent Commissioner of a SOE Company in the Fertilizer Field

JAKARTA - The Minister of Agriculture's daughter, Indira Chunda Thita Syahrul, is an Independent Commissioner of a state-owned company, PT Petrokimia Gresik.

This appointment took place on August 26 based on the results of the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Petrokimia Gresik's Directors and Commissioners.

Based on a release on the Petrokimia Gresik website, Thitha was appointed as an Independent Commissioner. Along with several other names, namely:

1. Dwi Satriyo Annurogo as President Director.

2. Digna Jatiningsih as Director of Operation and Production.

3. Dwi Ary Purnomo as Director of Finance and General Affairs.

4. Nugroho Purwanto as President Commissioner.

5. Mahmud Nurwindu as Independent Commissioner.

6. Yoke C. Katon as Commissioner.

7. Achmad Sigit as Commissioner.

8. Heriyono Harsoyo as Commissioner.

According to Article 120 Paragraph 2 of Law Number 40 of 2007, an independent commissioner must comes from an external party, who is not affiliated with any party. Especially the main shareholder, members of the board of directors and commissioners.

As for the appointment of this Commissioner, based on Law Number 19 of 2003 concerning SOE, it must pay attention to integrity, dedication, understand the problems of company management. It is related to a management function, have sufficient knowledge in the field of the company, and be able to provide enough time to work on their job.

Thita is a politician from the NasDem Party.  Before joining the party, she was a member of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives who served in the fields of agriculture, plantations, forestry, marine, and food. Thitha also ran for the 2019 Pileg from the Electoral District of South Sulawesi but failed.
