DPR Speaker Puan Maharani: Let's In This Year Of The Water Tiger, Let's Bring Indonesia Rise From The Pandemic

JAKARTA - The Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, invites the public to make the Chinese New Year celebration a boost for optimism for Indonesia's rise from the COVID-19 pandemic.

"To all Confucians and people of Chinese descent in the country, I wish you a happy 2537 Chinese New Year celebration," Puan said in a statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, February 1.

He hopes that the Chinese community will continue to celebrate the Chinese New Year with full of happiness even though the celebration in 2022 has been celebrated twice in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Puan also prays that all Indonesian people are always healthy and prosperous.

"I am sure that today's Lunar New Year celebration will still be filled with gratitude for what we have received. Let's take this year of the Air Tiger, we bring Indonesia to rise from the pandemic," he said.

He said, Chinese New Year as a tradition of the Chinese community must continue to be used as a moment to manifest gratitude and hope for all goodness in the previous and future years.

Puan also hopes that the Chinese New Year will bring good luck to the entire community and it is hoped that the residents will not be tired and always have the enthusiasm to bring Indonesia out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) asked the public to always take care of their health, especially Indonesia is facing a new variant of COVID-19, namely Omicron, whose number of cases is increasing every day.

"Keep your health. Wear a mask, keep your distance and wash your hands. Don't forget to always welcome a new morning with a smile on your face, a new soul, love in your heart, and good thoughts in all of us," he said.
