Check The Truth Of Residents Killing Bears In Mukomuko, BKSDA Contacts Village Officials

BENGKULU - The Bengkulu Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) said it would immediately conduct a check to ensure the truth of information related to the murder of a sun bear in the Mukomuko Regency area.

"I have ordered the head of the resort to check the truth of the information regarding residents killing the sun bear, whether it is true or not," said Head of the Conservation Section of Region I BKSDA Bengkulu Said Jauhari when contacted, Tuesday, January 7, confiscated by Antara.

Said said this after receiving information regarding the murder of a sun bear in the Mukomuko Regency area.

He said his party received information from media reports regarding a number of residents killing sun bears in the Mukomuko Regency area.

"From the Mukomuko Regency KSDA Resort, he said that there was no information in the field regarding the problem where it was located, and in what village," he said.

Regarding the circulation of photos or videos related to the killing of the sun bear, he said, the incident could have occurred in other areas.

For that, he continued, the truth of the information regarding this matter should be checked first, and communicated with local village government officials.

According to him, there are still many sun bears in Bengkulu and these sun bears are protected animals.

For that, Said said, if they were killed they violated the rules, except in an attacking condition.

"In the law, it is permissible to kill because human safety is prioritized," he said.

He said that his party was trying to socialize to people who were based on the edge of forest areas to report to the police, village officials, and BKSDA so that the team carried out the expulsion of protected animals.
