Attorney Pinangki's Younger Brother Examined, Investigators Traced Djoko Tjandra's Fatwa Bribery Funds

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office is investigating Pungki Primarni, who is the younger brother of Attorney Pinangki Sirna Malasari.

The Director of Investigation at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Ardiansyah, said that Pungki was questioned about Prosecutor Pinangki's account for the bribery case for Djoko Tjandra's fatwa processing. This is because Pungki is thought to have known about the financial transactions made by his brother.

"What is clear is that there is a connection with the Pinangki incident. In the process there are several checks between accounts. Maybe his younger brother's account, his younger brother's account goes to Pinangki or Pinangki to his younger brother," Febrie told reporters, Thursday, September 3.

Investigators also explored Pungki's statement about the assets owned by Prosecutor Pinangki. This examination was carried out to trace the assets that Pinangki bought from the bribe.

"Then also using assets, related to younger siblings. That's between siblings," he said.

Previously, Pungki Primarni was questioned by Jampidsus investigators on Thursday, September 3. He was examined along with two other witnesses, namely, Rahmat and Muhammad Nicky Rayan Lukman as supervisors of PT Astra International or BMW Sales Operation Branch Cilandak.

The AGO has named Pinangki as a suspect. Pinangki allegedly accepted a bribe worth 500 thousand US dollars or the equivalent of Rp7 billion from Djoko Tjandra for processing the fatwa. He is caught in Article 5 letter b of the Corruption Crime Law.

Pinangki is also subject to the article money laundering crime (TPPU). Pinangki allegedly disguised the bribes he received into a number of luxury items. One of them was the BMW SUV X5 which had been confiscated.
