In Order Not To Regret Like The Tuban 'Billionaire', Residents Affected By The Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road Must Use Compensation Money Wisely

SEMARANG - Residents affected by the construction of the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road are advised to be wise in using the compensation money for their land affected by one of the national strategic projects.

Endro Hudiyono, the representative of the Land Procurement Preparation Team for the construction of the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road from the Central Java Provincial Government in Magelang Regency, said that the compensation money is fully the rights of residents affected by the toll project. However, it takes a wise attitude in its use.

"It's okay if you want to buy this, buy that. It's your money afterall, but it would be better if it was used to buy land again, if the land was affected," he said during the Public Consultation on Land Procurement for the Construction of the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road in Karangkajen Village Hall, Secang District, Magelang Regency, as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 26.

He hoped that the affected residents would not waste their compensation money so they would not regret it in the future.

Nuryati, one of the residents affected by the toll road in Pogalan Hamlet, Karangkajen Village, Secang District, admitted that she agreed with the government's directive which appealed to make the best use of compensation money.

The woman, who owns a moor of about 1,600 square meters, plans to buy the land from the money she lost to replace her land affected by the Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road project.

"If you can buy land, then buy land, at least it can be useful," she said.
