GORONTALO - The Gorontalo Provincial Government together with the Regional Title Research and Review Team (TP2GD) this year will propose Aloei Saboe and HB Jassin to be named national heroes.
Gorontalo Province TP2GD member Muhammad Isman Jusuf said Aloei Saboe was included in the list of eight figures who were proposed to receive the title of national hero in 2021.
"Of the eight figures, only four were chosen to become national heroes, because that is the prerogative of the President. However, according to the mandate of the law, regions can re-propose the hero the following year, so we propose again," he said in Gorontalo, Antara, Wednesday, January 26.
"Gorontalo City Social Service and Bone Bolango Regency proposed one name, namely Mr. HB Jassin. We will propose both this year," he added.
Deputy Governor of Gorontalo Idris Rahim asked TP2GD and the Social Service to immediately prepare various documents needed to propose Aloei Saboe and HB Jassin to get the title of national heroes.
Documents and administrative requirements for proposing Aloei Saboe to receive the title of national hero are complete.
"We are in a race against time because the deadline for submissions is March 31, 2022. For Mr. HB Jassin's document, I ask that it be completed within two weeks," he added.
Aloei Saboe is a doctor and freedom fighter who fought against the Dutch colonialists in Gorontalo along with other figures such as Nani Wartabone and Kusno Danupoyo.
