JAKARTA - The addition of two positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sukabumi Regency, West Java, Saturday, was again contributed by COVID-19 patients who have a history of traveling outside the region.

Information compiled from the Sukabumi Regency COVID-19 Handling Acceleration Task Force, the two patients are 49-year-old male from Surade District and 28-year-old resident of Bantargadung District.

However, it was confirmed that the two patients were not infected with the Omicron variant of COVID-19. According to Eneng, in the last few weeks the addition of COVID-19 cases was mostly contributed by patients who had a history of traveling outside the region.

On the previous day or Friday, January 21, the addition of two new cases also came from residents who were confirmed positive for COVID-19 who had previously traveled to Bali and Sukabumi City. Therefore, his party is not tired of giving appeals to the community to reduce mobility outside the home, let alone traveling outside the area if it is not something that is really important, urgent or cannot be represented.

"This is proof that COVID-19 is still around us and continues to mutate, as now a new variant, namely Omicron, has emerged, although in Sukabumi Regency there have not been any cases of Omicron, but we have to be careful and anyone, even residents who have received complete vaccinations, can be infected," he added.

Eneng said in addition to the addition of two new cases, three COVID-19 patients who were previously isolated at a referral hospital in Sukabumi Regency have been declared cured so that currently there are 17 patients with details of four undergoing isolation at a referral hospital and 14 self-isolation.

Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 residents since the first case was discovered was 11,799 patients, of which 11,199 patients have been declared cured, 17 patients are still undergoing isolation and 583 patients have died.
