JAKARTA - The Central Executive of Muhammadiyah proposes that honorary teachers who pass the selection of Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) are placed in the initial schools where they teach.

"If any of those who have worked in these private schools then pass the PPPK recruitment, then those who graduate should be appointed and placed in the school where they have served and taught so far," said PP Muhammadiyah Chairman KH. Anwar Abbas via a short message received in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Thursday, January 20.

He is worried that there will be a massive migration of educators after the PPPK selection, so that private schools will lose teachers.

By placing it in the initial location of the teaching place, Anwar Abbas hopes that this proposal can unravel the problems that will be experienced by private schools due to the PPPK policy.

"Therefore, in this case, related to the recruitment of government employees with work agreements, especially for teachers, the best step that must be taken by the government is not to let the policy create problems with the availability of educators or teachers in community-owned schools," he said.

He said the PP Muhammadiyah Elementary and Secondary Education Council (Dikdasmen) said that educational community organizations such as Muhammadiyah were in danger of losing 3,000 teachers because of PPPK.

With this proposal, Muhammadiyah hopes that the teaching staff who have passed the PPPK will become an extension of the government in helping to improve the quality of teaching and learning for private schools.

Moreover, the existing private schools have helped ease the government's burden on the education sector.

"Thus, it is hoped that the quality of education of the nation's children that they have studied and faced so far will be able to improve. That is what we really hope and need," Anwar said.
