JAKARTA - The cause of the fire at the Attorney General's Office is not yet known. The police are still examining the evidence, clues and witnesses to reveal the cause.

Although the cause of the fire is not yet known, the Attorney General's Office has begun to estimate the total losses due to the incident that scorched the main building. Provisional estimates, the loss reached Rp1, 1 trillion.

Head of the AGO's Legal Information Center, Hari Setiyono, said the total losses were divided into two types. Losses from the side of the building and the side of inventory or burned items.

Losses from the building side were estimated at IDR 178,327 billion. "This means the value of buildings and buildings," Hari told reporters, Monday, August 31.

Meanwhile, the losses from the inventory side were much greater. It is estimated that the loss reached IDR 940,221 billion. This value is calculated from the items in the building.

"It consists of anything, equipment, machinery, then equipment. That's an estimate of Rp940,221 billion," said Hari.

However, the total loss may increase or decrease. It depends on data collection on what equipment is damaged by fire.

"This is a temporary estimate because the team or interpreters have not been able to enter the area because the police line is still being installed," said Hari.

Previously, the Adhyaksa Corps Building caught fire on Saturday, August 22 at 19.10 WIB. It is suspected that the fire came from the third floor. However, it is not certain what caused the fire to appear.

After burning for almost 12 hours, the fire finally went out at around 06.28 WIB. It took 65 fire engines including two Bronto Skylift units deployed to extinguish the fire. There were no fatalities in this incident.

However, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, through Kapuspenkum Kejagung Hari Setiyono, confirmed that in that incident there were no case documents in the burning building. The AGO asked the public to be patient in waiting for the results of the investigation.

"The cause of this fire is still being investigated by the National Police. Therefore, please be patient and we beg you not to make speculations and irresponsible assumptions," said Kapuspenkum AGO Hari Setiyono.
