Peaceful Operation Cartenz Formed, 1,925 TNI-Police Personnel Ready To Safeguard Papua

JAKARTA - The National Police stated that the Cartenz Peace Operation would be filled with joint TNI-Polri personnel. At least 1,925 personnel will be deployed to secure conditions in Papua.

"It is carried out by the Papuan Police, which is backed up by the Police Headquarters and the TNI, with a total of 1,925 personnel", said Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Tuesday, January 18.

The combined personnel consisted of 1,824 members of the National Police and 101 members of the TNI. The operation started on January 17th.

"While the details of the number of members of the National Police are 1,824 Papua Police 528 personnel, while the backup Police Headquarters amounted to 1,296 personnel", said Ramadhan.

"Operation Peaceful Cartenz 2022 will be carried out from January 17 to December 31, 2022", he continued.

On the other hand, Operation Peaceful Cartenz will be tasked with maintaining peace. That is, in the task of prioritizing Preemptive and Preventive.

"Preemptive and preventive functions that are open and closed, by increasing the participation of religious leaders, community leaders, traditional leaders to provide appeals to create security and social security stability for the implementation of local and national agendas in Papua", said Ramadhan.

"Then the task force also provides training such as agriculture, fisheries, as well as education or teaching and learning and publish positive activities from Binmas colleagues", he continued.

Meanwhile, the National Police decided to end the task of the Nemangkawi Task Force in eradicating the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua. Later, Operation Peace Cartenz 2022 will be formed.
