0.14 Percent Of The 5.4 Million Population In Bogor Regency, People With Disabilities

BOGOR – The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Bogor, West Java recorded as many as 7,358 people or 0.14 percent of the 5.4 million population in its area are people with disabilities.

"It consists of 1,026 disabled children, 2,219 physical disabilities, 859 mental disabilities, 1,457 intellectual disabilities, and 1,797 people with sensory disabilities," said Bogor Regent Ade Yasin, quoting Antara, Saturday, January 15.

He mentioned that the Bogor Regency Government (Pemkab) runs a number of disability empowerment programs, such as establishing Graha Pancakarsa, one of which functions to accommodate assistance from companies.

"One-stop service for residents with special needs in collaboration with CSR and companies to provide tools and special needs residents. And one roof for managing related services for people with special needs," said Ade Yasin.

Then, in the field of education, the Bogor Regency Government held an inclusive program at every level of education. According to him, inclusive education has been included in the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) of Bogor Regency for 2018-2023.

Thus, at the end of 2020, there were 91 elementary schools and 20 junior high schools that were pilot inclusive schools.

"Our target at the end of the RPJMD is 27 kindergarten level schools, 45 elementary schools, and 41 junior high schools. Then, we provide a program of 1,200 scholarships for presentations including people with disabilities to continue their education to state universities throughout Indonesia and private in Bogor Regency," he explained.
