Unsettling The Public, Medan Mayor Ensures The Perpetrators Of Extortion Do Not Serve Anymore

JAKARTA – The environmental head (Kepling) who carries out illegal levies (pungli) has disturbed residents in East Medan. This made the Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution intervene directly to take action and ensure that the person was no longer in service.

"I can confirm that he is no longer serving as Kepling VIII, Pulo Brayan Bengkel Village, East Medan District," said Bobby in Medan, North Sumatra, Friday, January 14, quoted by Antara.

According to Bobby, the Medan City Government also confirmed that the person had returned the money worth Rp. 1.7 million which he had collected from the victim, who is a local resident.

Bobby said the decision was taken after his party conducted an inspection to follow up on complaints from residents who were victims of extortion in the management of Family Cards (KK) and e-KTPs.

"The process of returning money to the victim, who was asked for money by Kepling yesterday has been completed," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the Mayor of Medan was taking action against those who were proven to have committed extortion against residents in Pulo Brayan Bengkel Village, Medan, Tuesday, January 11 evening.

Bobby at that time immediately went to the location of the extortion, after a resident sent a message on his personal social media account. This is a very quick response shown by President Joko Widodo's son-in-law.

Bobby also instructed the District Head of Medan Timur, Alfi Pane, to replace the person in charge.

"In doing the processing of the letter, I emphasize there is no cost at all. It is a form of government service to the community," he said.

"Therefore, this Kepling must be removed because I have repeatedly said that there should be no more extortion and corruption," said Bobby.
