JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that the occupancy of isolation beds and COVID-19 treatment in the capital had increased to 7 percent, from the previous 4 percent.
Riza admitted that the increase in the bed occupancy ratio (BOR) was partly due to the increasing number of cases of the Omicron variant.
"We need to say that the BOR has now increased to 7 percent, which previously decreased by 4 percent. This is a concern for us all. One of the reasons is the surge in Omicron cases, but today's positive cases are also increasing," said Riza at the DKI Regional Representative Council (DPRD) Building, Wednesday, 5 January.
As of January 4, there were an additional 90 cases of Omicron in Jakarta, bringing the total to 252 cases.
Of the total Omicron cases detected by genome sequencing, 239 were imported cases or foreign travelers and 13 other cases were infected by local transmission.
The majority of Omicron cases found in Jakarta had no symptoms or OTG, while the rest had mild symptoms.
