MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution welcomed the wish of the Pangkalan Susu PLTU in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra, to use the waste at the Falls Final Disposal Site (TPA) as fuel.

"We are very supportive. The waste at the TPA Falls, Medan Marelan can be used as solid jumputan fuel for 'co-firing' as a steam power plant," said Bobby Nasution, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, January 4.

This was conveyed when Bobby received an audience with the General Manager of PLTU Pangkalan Susu, Trisno Widayat and his staff at the Medan Mayor's Office.

Bobby Nasution reminded that the management of the Pangkalan Susu PLTU should take the waste in TPA Falls seriously, both in management and development.

"But it is necessary to agree on a commitment to waste management. Don't let the TPA Falls be just a place of research, but must be developed," he stressed.

If later it has been agreed, then the Pangkalan Susu PLTU must be able to become a buyer, thus providing benefits for the Medan City Government and the local PLTU.

"I want the results of this research to be really useful for the PLTU and the Medan City Government itself," said Mayor Bobby.

General Manager of PLTU Pangkalan Susu, Trisno Widayat, admitted that he is interested in managing waste at TPA Falls into fuel.

He briefly explained the production flow of the power plant carried out by the Pangkalan Susu PLTU. Therefore, his party requested permission from the Medan City Government to conduct research and trials.

"With the Pangkalan Susu PLTU, we can use the waste in the Waterfall TPA," he said.
