MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution formed a team to unite steps in fostering and awakening Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in this area.
"At the meeting, a common ground was reached, namely that it was necessary to form a team consisting of elements of the municipal government and stakeholders to further activate and maximize the achievement of MSME development," said Bobby Nasution in Medan, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 28.
The team formed has a task and they can provide input for the Medan City Government in terms of making policies related to increasing MSMEs.
Bobby Nasution also asked the Head of Cooperation Division of the Medan City Secretariat, Ummy Wahyuni, to follow up and realize the team's cooperation plan in the near future.
"Don't wait until January 2022. Keep it simple, and don't violate the rules," said Bobby Nasution.
Meanwhile, Acting Head of Medan City Cooperatives and MSMEs Regen Harahap said the number of MSMEs fostered by the Medan City Government was around 27,000 units out of a total of 70,000 registered units.
"The problem that most MSME actors face is financing," he said.
BRI Medan Regional Leader Oscar Hutagaol supports the program to increase MSMEs in terms of financing because BRI has been disbursing loans to MSME actors in the city of Medan.
"In 2021, around Rp. 3 trillion will be distributed in Medan, and in 2022 we will increase it to Rp. 4 trillion. In addition to financing, we provide training, including obtaining halal certification for free," he said.
