Police Arrest Man Who Takes Away Cengkareng Girl

JAKARTA - A viral kidnapping case on social media is revealed. The police arrested a man named Wawan Gunawan (41) who took away a teenager with the initials F (14).

Viral, the alleged child kidnapping case in Cengkarang went viral after the victim's mother uploaded information about the loss of her child via the @pempek_funny Instagram account. In the upload, it was stated that F (14) had been taken away since July 2020.

"Suspect W was finally found this morning with victim F in the Sukabumi area, West Java. When he was found the victim was in good health and safety," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the West Jakarta Metro Police, Police Commissioner Teuku Arsya Khadafi, to reporters, Friday, August 21.

From the results of the interim investigation, the mode of kidnapping the perpetrator promised to marry him. Because, at that time the victim was pregnant with Wawan's child.

"The mode of the perpetrator is first that he gives attention and will be promised marriage, so that the victim believes," he said.

With this sweet promise, the victim believed it. So that the victim was willing to join Wawan.

"The victim felt that the perpetrator was paying attention so that at that time the perpetrator wanted to bring his parents' motorbike together and then took him away from his house," said Arsya.

Meanwhile, West Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Audie Latuheru added, during his escape, Wawan often moved places to get rid of traces.

"It turns out that F was taken away by the suspect in several places, including Bekasi, Sukabumi, from different places," explained Audie.

For his actions, Wawan was charged with Article 41 paragraph 2 of Law number 17 of 2016 concerning Child Protection. The maximum imprisonment threat is 14 years.
