Ministry Of Health Says 80 Percent Of The First Dose Of Vaccination Can Be Achieved In January 2022

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Vaccination of the Ministry of Health (Kemkes) Siti Nadia Tarmizi said 80 percent of the first dose of vaccination in the country is likely to be achieved in mid-January 2022.

"We hope that in December 2021 we can reach 80 percent for the first dose and 60 percent for the second dose, but it looks like this figure will only be reached in the middle of the second week of January 2022," Nadia said in a virtual discussion on Damping Omicron Transmissions in Jakarta, Friday. , December 24.

Nadia said that currently the average COVID-19 vaccine injection in Indonesia is 1.1 million to 1.2 million per day.

Until December 21, 2021, the total number of vaccinations for the first dose and the complete dose reached 260,734,531 people, of which the first dose vaccination reached 73.48 percent, and the complete dose reached 51.80 percent.

Even though Indonesia has reached the target from the World Health Organization (WHO), which is 40 percent of getting a full dose of vaccination, Indonesia's target to reach 60 percent still has to be accelerated because it is possible that by the end of December 2021, full dose vaccination coverage will reach 54-55 percent.

In addition, vaccination of the elderly (elderly) must also be increased because so far it has only reached 61 percent for the first dose of vaccination.

The Indonesian government continues to increase the coverage of the COVID-19 vaccination for the Indonesian people.

In addition to health protocols and 3T (testing, contact tracing and treatment), COVID-19 vaccination is one of the keys against any variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19, including the Omicron variant.
