GARUT - Garut Police, West Java, enforced an odd-even rule for motorized vehicles to limit the mobilization of motorized vehicles during the Christmas and New Year 2022 holiday seasons.
"Odd-even will still be applied on the momentum of Christmas and New Year 2022," said Garut Police Chief AKBP Wirdhanto Hadicaksono in Garut, Antara, Friday, December 24.
He said a number of personnel had been prepared for the security of Christmas and New Year's 2022, especially on the main route, tourism, and urban Garut.
The areas that will be applied are odd-even, he said, Cipanas Street as an area for tourism, then Samarang Street, and Garut city center which are crowded areas visited by people to fill the holidays.
"Odd-even implementation will depend on the situation on the ground, if the conditions are crowded, we will apply it," said the Police Chief.
He explained the reason for applying odd-even to minimize crowds or mobilization of people in a place so that there would be no crowds.
The effort, he said, was to prevent a spike in the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak in Garut Regency.
If there are motorists who violate the odd-even rules, said the Police Chief, strict action will be applied according to traffic rules. "Later we will carry out control operations," he said.
The police chief hopes that the role of the community is to jointly maintain security and order, especially complying with health protocols so that there is no spike in COVID-19 cases in Garut.
He advised people to fill their holidays at home or not going home to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.
"Residents are asked not to go home so that they can maintain contact transmission of COVID-19 numbers in Garut, which is currently quite good," said the Police Chief.
