JAKARTA - The determination of the Formula E circuit in the Ancol area strengthens the intention of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan to realize this electric-powered car racing event on June 4, 2022.

However, the PSI faction of the DKI DPRD emphasized that it is still asking for a feasibility study on the implementation of Formula E, which has not yet been transparently opened to council members.

This feasibility study was made by BUMD PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) as the organizer. The feasibility study contains an explanation of the expenses to the income and profits of DKI in holding Formula E.

"The BPK's order to revise the feasibility study has not yet been carried out and reported to the DPRD, it's just a show of circuits," said DKI DPRD PSI faction member Anggara Wicitra Sastroamidjojo to reporters, Thursday, December 23.

Anggara also admitted that he suspected that the decision making on the implementation of Formula E did not obey the administration because many problematic things were hidden. In fact, there is a APBD that has been disbursed amounting to Rp560 billion to pay the commitment fee.

“Again, the planning for Formula E is inconsequential. Make it using APBD money but make decisions as you please. If the decision is taken carelessly like this, it is natural for us to suspect that there are many problems being covered up," said Anggara.

"We will carry out our supervisory function by calling the organizers, the Youth and Sports Office, and PT Jakpro for a complete explanation," he continued.

Previously, the Chairman of the Formula E Organizing Committee, Ahmad Sahroni, explained the reason for choosing the Ancol area, North Jakarta to be the Formula E circuit which will be held on June 4, 2022.

Sahroni said, Ancol is an icon of Jakarta and can be a dynamic location as a circuit. This location does not interfere with the activities of the people who use the road infrastructure for their activities.

"Formula E itself is (held in) the highway area and there is no need to build a circuit from scratch, because Formula E is different, it must be built from scratch like Mandalika in the context of Formula 1 and Moto GP," Sahroni said at a press conference in Ancol.

Continuing, the Director of PT Jakpro Widi Amanasto explained that Ancol deserves to be a circuit because it has its own philosophy. When viewed, the electric car race route in Ancol looks like a lumping horse.

"What does the foam circuit look like? Kuda lumping. This is an iconic Jakarta issue. Then, please look to the right (Ancol) where there is an international class Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), the new iconic Jakarta," said Widi.

More specifically, the location of the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit (JIEC) has 18 bends, 600 meters of straight track, clockwise direction, 2.4 kilometers of track length, and 16 meters of track width.
