JABAR - West Java Governor M Ridwan Kamil demonstrated his expertise in cooking jengkol which was taken from Bung Karno's recipe book 'Mustikarasa' during the 93rd Mother's Day Commemoration of West Java 2021 on Jalan Soekarno, Bandung City today.

Wearing a red apron, Ridwan Kamil practiced his skills on a Mascara car (Aspiration Village Champion Car), accompanied by Chef Seto and his wife, Atalia Praratya.

Ridwan Kamil has prepared jengkol from West Bandung Regency and the spices that will be used as Padang green chili sauce. In front of the mothers and invited guests, Ridwan Kamil eloquently explained the process of making jengkol which is on page 774 Mustikarasa.

"And later we will dry the jengkol mixed with green chili sauce typical of Padang sprinkled with anchovies. The jengkol has been cleaned and ready to be fried. I am nervous about Bu Cinta (his wife)," said Ridwan Kamil as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 22.

Ridwan Kamil said that currently jengkol has been ogled by the international market, it was proven last week that his party released the first export of jengkol to the United Arab Emirates region.

"Alhamdulillah, we have succeeded in exporting jengkol to Dubai. Hopefully, repeat orders from Dubai to the rest of the world, with the principle, let's jengkol the world and globalize jengkol," he said.

In the Mustikarasa recipe, jengkol is sprinkled with anchovies and according to Ridwan Kamil, jengkol is similar to bread which tastes even better if you add additional toppings. After 15 minutes, Ridwan Kamil's jengkol is finished and ready to be served.

"So imagine eating it with warm rice, Mr. Regent of Cirebon, please try it, Mr. Regent of Bekasi too," he said.

Cirebon Regent Imron Rosyadi and Bekasi Regent Akhmad Marzuki, who got the first chance to taste the jengkol, praised Ridwan Kamil's processed food.

"You have to say it's good, because if you don't like it, you're afraid you won't get financial assistance." said Ridwan Kamil.

He said this year's Mother's Day celebration was special because apart from him cooking, there were 63,000 school children throughout West Java who cooked more than 1,000 recipes in Bung Karno's Mustikarasa book.

"Hopefully this way we will always be a society who loves extraordinary wealth, the culinary of the archipelago with the combinations in the book," he said
